The Stratis

Story

‘Laidback’ is another term for this chair and you could see that Stratis speaks for itself. The name Stratis means layers in Latin, in this context, it reflects the crossings binding the two curves of the wood together. Spending some time on this easy chair would definitely be worth the experience, leaving you relaxed and peaceful.

Design

Stratis is very distinctive in its design with the wood bending at perfect proportions making it look very fluid. The lounger is made to look fluidic by fusing the back, seat, and legs in wood. Whereas the hind leg and hand rest are made of metal.

The Air Shelf

Story

Inspired by the art of Pier Mondrian, the Air Shelf is an assemblage of cubes and cuboids in a balanced and rhythmic manner. The partly open and partly covered shelves heighten the illusion of openness and airy feel. Functionally, the open shelves allow access from both sides, while also allowing for hidden spaces to store objects out of sight. The Air Shelf is also available with a low unit with three drawers for additional storage space.

Design

The main challenge with this piece was translating the abstract artwork of Pier Mondrian from the early 20th century to a contemporary 3-dimensional furniture piece fashioned out of wood. Much thought was devoted to the exact arrangement of the various elements, to achieve the modular yet perfectly unified aesthetic of Mondrian’s work. In terms of craftsmanship, the process involved creating separate panels and adding in fixture details to complete the overall form and aesthetic of the shelf.

The Scoot

Story

This compact little stool is inspired directly by geometry’s new shape - the scutoid - a form found in nature that allows for efficient and tight packing together, as in cell forms. With multiple planes aligned with each other, the Scoot’s defining elements are the missing edges that are characteristic of its geometric inspiration.

Design

To create the Scoot, four planks were aligned such that their grains met at the center of the seat. Metal plates were used to highlight the tapers and also create the illusion of the missing edges.

The Cornula

Story

The Cornula has been crafted to project majesty, with bold features such as the armrests and the arched metal legs. The curved seat and backrest have been crafted for optimum comfort and ease of use.

Design

The combination of flowing curves and emphatic lines makes the Cornula stand out in any setting. The combination of wood and metal highlights the contrast in form while creating a solid stable structure.
